    trying to find some details of  james taylor married to annie stevenson.have the family on the 1901 census living with stevenson in castleroe.james was not their on the night.cannot find any details of his family parents,siblings etc

Is this the family on the census returns ?

  1901 Taylor/Stevenson family, Castleroe
  1911 Taylor family, Castleroe

The 1911 census showed that James & Annie are married about 12 years - so c1899. You can search the BMD Index for thier marriage. A cert would show details of fathers etc, which would help find James's father.

The townland of Castleroe seems to be in the registration district of Coleraine, but the town, and district, of Ballymoney are only short distance to the south-east.

Possibly this James Taylor in 1901 census (Curragh is just down the road a bit from Castleroe)-

Marriage certificate for James and Annie should list fathers' names and occupation unless illegitimate.

          I have that Ballymoney marriage, Annie Stevenson to JOHN MILLER. the BMD index bears this out.

        I cannot find a marriage for Annie Stevenson and JamesTaylor. I notice that Annie is a granddaughter of Jane Stevenson and wonder if you can confirm that Annie's maiden name was Stevenson.

So a false cross match for the marriage. That was the best poss. match for Annie...

something strange going on in the BMD Index - two separate marriages listed with the same name, year/qtr, page and volume - but different registration districts :

There's a marriage for a James Taylor Apr./June 1898 Coleraine district volume 1 page 609 with a match for Annie Henry.
In 1911 census an aunt Mary Stevens is in the Taylor household and Stevensons/Stevens are interchangable.
Betty- do you have any of the children's birth certificates or other source for Annie's maiden name being Stevenson?
