New notebook keep's disconnecting from Internet....any help please

I purchased a new notebook a couple of months ago and everything worked perfectly until about a week ago when I lost my connection, my husband and daughters use wireless laptops and all were still connected, since then my notebook disconnects at random without any pattern and will not re connect sometimes for hours at a time, I can't figure out what is going on.

Anyone have any ideas please

Who is your service provider?Is it the same company as provides service to your husband and daughters?

My  connection is to broadband virgin media wireless, my husband can be using his laptop at the same time as me and in the same room and I will lose my connection while he stay's connected, I am thinking of taking my notebook back to the shop where I bought it as I still have the receipt and it is under guarantee, but I am not sure if it is my notebook that is at fault. I just wondered if anyone had an idea as to what is causing this to happen.

If you or perhaps your husband know what you are doing I would try and set up your wireless connection to your router again as it seems as though something isn't quite right in your set up if your access goes when two other laptops are in use.

A few weeks ago my wireless connection was always dropping, when I changed ISP I was being told that I was connected to the internet when in fact I wasn't.    On closer inspection, it turned out that my router was at fault.  A brand new router and no problems.   So as Alan suggests check your router.

 Thank you for your replies, I will change my router and see if that works, although it seems very strange that it is only my new notebook that is being affected, I don't know too much about setting up my wireless connection, I think it was done for us. (if husband feels brave he may attempt it)

It was only by ringing my new ISP complaining that I still wasn't getting a connection, that they could tell from their end that my 3 year old router was the culprit.

Your internet supplier Virgin - Do you connect via telephone line or cable?
Might be able to help if cable connected, sorry don't know a lot about phone connections.
(But I know a man/men who do!)

You have said that your ISP is Virgin. Who supplies the service to your husband and daughter, is it also Virgin?
