Ellen LAMBERT convict or free settler?
« on: Monday 27 September 10 06:51 BST (UK) »
I would love some help finding out more about my ancestor Ellen Lambert. She married the convict Adam Swinburn(e) alias Swanborough 22/5/1848 and the marriage cert. says she lived at Green Hills, Shoalhaven NSW. This cert. gives no ages. Adam was already married in England and had been transported in 1834 from Antrim Ireland although he was from Cheshire. They only had two children, Amelia Grace (1849) and Robert George (1851). Ellen died in Braidwood in 1866 according to BD&M. What I would like confirmed is Ellen's birthdate..... (I have been told 1800 but that makes her very old if the two children mentioned were her first children.) Also I believe her parents were Grace and Robert,( BD&M) but there is no sign of Ellen or her parents birth or marriage in Australia so I assume they were all born overseas.  I would love to know if she was a convict, if she had siblings, where she was from, her ship.. anything at all to give me a better picture of her life would be much appreciated. Thanks Jule

The Familysearch Pilot Site has this possible;
Ellen LAMBERT, Birth 24 April 1818,
Christened/Baptised 05 February 1819, Ripponden, Yorkshire
Parents ROBERT and GRACE

If this is her than they must have shortly after left for Australia to have Frederick born c 1820
Maybe a search of Shipping Records will show up something.

Trish :)

Unfortunately Julie pre 1840's records a trip to the Archives or a professional researcher is the only way i know of.
Other Australian experts may have other ideas later tonight as they come online.
I am not an Aust. expert!

There is a Daughter Clara who married also 1847 to Charles KERR;
i just "googled" Robert Lambert + Harrington Park and a couple of things came up.

Also do you have this?
