That's just brilliant , thankyou so much Merlin and Trish and Logan too. I am just trying to absorb all that information.....and to imagine the upset to the family when Ellen told them she was marrying Adam Swinburn(e). (1848, The Parish of Wollongong &C in the County of Camden) Presumably Adam kept his English marriage a secret. I'll try to fill in the gaps now and work out how this unlikely couple ended up down in the Illawarra district which is where they settled and had their two children. I feel I know so much more about their lives now thanks to you all. Julie

Hi Julie,
I am checking in just before going to work.
There is likely to be a Will for Robert Lambert which might be worth looking into.
Also his Death Cert might be a good idea to purchase.

Trish :)

Good idea Trish, now I know who Ellen's parents and siblings were, it opens up many more avenues for research. Ta Julie

Hi jule  :)

Have you seen this website - someone researching your Swinburn family, and mention of your Adam:

http://webspace.webring.com/people/au/um_7035/prestbury.html

The 1841 census of NSW shows Adam on 14th March as an "overseer" for a property owned by H. Osborne, at Kangaroo Valley (aka Kangaroo Ground) in a household of four males.  Their house was made of wood  :)

Cheers
Prue

Possible Birth/Christenings for other Children, IGI Extracted;

Jane LAMBERT, Birth 14 November 1811, Christening 14 February 1812, Saint Leonards, Streatham, Surrey, to ROBERT and GRACE

Frederich LAMBERT, 01 April 1820, St Thomas Ardwick, Manchester, Lancashire to ROBERT and GRACE

Now Robert was a Merchant and may have got around the Countryside.
In every Christening I have posted there is only the 1 Child on the Batch at that Church/Area to Robert and Grace.
As we dont know the name of other Son age 13 in 1828 it is difficult to find him.
