Assurances have now been posted that the Somerset OPC problems are temporary, and they are taking the opportunity to update the site.

 Hi

Evan L Evans & Annie Veasey were married in Carneavon in 1928.

 I hope this helps.

Did your aunt write the place name down or are you spelling it as you heard it? I'm from Dorset originally and there are a lot of place names which are abbreviated locally. Perhaps you should be looking for a town or village in the Dorchester district which might be abbreviated and take into account local pronunciation.
Berks / Oxon: Eltham, Annetts, Wiltshire (surname not county), Hawkins, Pembroke, Partridge
Dorset / Hants: Derham, Stride, Purkiss, Sibley
Yorkshire: Pottage, Carr, Blackburn, Depledge
Sussex: Goodyer, Christopher, Trevatt
Lanark: Scott (soldier went to Jersey CI)
Jersey: Fowler, Huelin, Scott

:)Hi Cheryle, thanks for getting in touch. Well at least it proved the place existed. Mine lived there in the 1930's so I couldn't understand why I couldn't find it. If it had been 1600's or something then yes it could have vanished. I never got any nearer to finding it. My aunt is still alive but she was only about 5 when she lived there so she was uncertain. I have had fun with them though. They lived in all these villages and moved 18 times in 20 years!! Once again thanks for your help, it is much appreciated.

As Vera's mother lived in Bath, could this possibly be what Pafe is?

Sue you have lost me. Why do you think Vera's mum lived in Bath? She was from Llanelly. I have now found out that Vera lived near Cerne Abbas in Dorset. I am no nearer Pafe so have given up on that!!
