The Brewster family of Pleshey, Essex
« on: Sunday 26 September 10 17:12 BST (UK) »
Hi one and all,

If its not too much trouble, can anyone out there help me untangle my BREWSTER ancestors who appear to have moved to Pleshey from the Great Waltham area in c1800.

Specifically I am hoping that someone can advise on the following look ups :-

BREWSTER births 1800 to 1845 at Holy Trinity, Pleshey, Essex.

BREWSTER marriages 1800 to 1845 at Holy Trinity, Pleshey Essex.

Here's hoping that someone has ploughed the same furrow!!

Thanks,

10dorking

Hello 10dorking
I have Brewsters in my tree, at Pleshey, roughly from 1800 to 1900.
Anyone in particular you are looking for? We may cross- pollinate.

Regards
Wombat.

Hi Wombat.
Thanks for your response. Sorry for the delay in replying but I only received an email wrt your response to my Gt Waltham thread.
My connection with Pleshey is as follows:-
GGGGF was William Brewster b1782 (Gt Waltham) m1811 (Gt Waltham) Mary Dowsell who then moved to and then lived in Pleshey.
Their son, my GGGF William Brewster b1811 (Pleshey?) m1838 (Pleshey?) Sarah Pool.
Their son, my GGF George Brewster b1845 (Pleshey) m1868 (Woodham Walter?) Emily Bowles.
Their son, my GF William Brewster b1877 (Pleshey) m1897 (Romford) Rebecca Ann Cole.
The big unknowns all concern my GGGGF and his family as they predate FreeBMD and I cant find them on Family Search. (I assume that the Pleshey/Holy Trinity records have not yet been transcribed?)
Do you have any info at all on this particular family?
Does this info match up with your FT?
Looking forward to your response.

The Pleshey records are available at the Essex Records Office in Chelmsford or on-line at http://seax.essexcc.gov.uk/  This is a subscription site.

Can't find the 1868 marriage anywhere. It's in the registration district of chelmsford jul-sep 1868, but been through the relevant parish records and can't see it???
Jamiesons, Martins and McGonigals of Coleraine, Londonderry
and
Cullens, Grahams and Challenors of Dublin county and city.

Hi Wombat.
Thanks for your response which is very interesting as Joseph Brewster (b1739 d17??) (do you know when he died?) was my 4x Great Grandfather.
As he was also your 5x Great Uncle, it follows that our common ancestor is therefore their father JONATHON BREWSTER (1698 - 1765) who married Ann Mafin in 1719 in Good Easter which I believe makes us 5th cousins.
According to my FT they had at least 7 children viz John(B1721), Ann(b1722), Martha(b1727), Tabitha(b1730), Jonathon(b1732), Edward(b1735) and Joseph(b1739)
Who are you descended from?
I have another three generations in my FT back to John Brewster c1590 who in 1625 married a Jane ?
Does this tie in with your tree?
Hope to hear from you sometime as I would like to continue this dialogue with you.
Best Regards,

Hello 10dorking,
Once again please excuse the delay ....
Unless I've mucked up my 'tree' our earliest ancestor (at least in my pile) is Tom (Thomas) BREWSTER b. Good Easter abt 1626. Buried Good Easter 10 Sep 1670.
He had 3 children with Ann - Jonathan BREWSTER (12 Mar 1652), Thomas BREWSTER (8 Oct 1655) and Anne BREWSTER (2 Oct 1658).

if you could PM me an email address there are several reports/lists which I'd like to send you.
Regards
