Scotland's Torfoot Brownlee Families
« on: Saturday 29 August 09 01:58 BST (UK) »
The Brownlee surname, from Scotland, has spread though out the world; however, few can trace their heritage back to the Lairds of Torfoot.  Do you believe that you are related to the Scotland's Brownlee Lairds of Torfoot?  Please explain?

Scotland Portraits? Brownlie/Brownlee
« Reply #1 on: Sunday 26 September 10 03:16 BST (UK) »
Greetings everyone,  I live in the state of Pennsylvania, United States of America, and have been researching with my cousin our ancestry.  I am an Artist, working in oils on canvas and I've painted many portraits.  I was wondering if there happens to be any old painted portraits of the Brownlie/Borwnlee, The Lairds of Torfoot, ancestors or their wives?  Perhaps they would be in a private collection or museum.  If you happen to know anything about the Brownlie/Brownlee family lines please feel free to email me, (*)

Re: Scotland's Torfoot Brownlee Families

I have William Brownlee and a former Provost of Dundee in my tree.

However, the line up within this tree are to the Brownlee name from the Headlesscross Farm in Cambusnethan in Lanarkshire. The Nethan part in Gaelic was Nechtan and I believe the 4th king of the Picts.

In the Town Hall of Dundee there is a portrait of William Brownlee painted by Sargent. I hope that helps.
Brownlee at Birth. Millar Surname via adoption. Mother's Birthname was Pamela Theodora Pearce. Grand Mother remarried and Mother's Surname changed to Brownlee.

Hello I have also traced my ancestors back to the Brownlee's of Headless cross, and my great grandfather raised Clydesdale horses at Torbane Hall Farm near Bathgate .
I sure would like to find someone who has more information.
I have found out there was a Torfoot Farm at Strathhaven I believe
