Birth date look up

Hi All

I am hoping to be able to order the birth certificate of (*) who was born in Southwark in April 1988 (mother's maiden name (*)).  The on line GRO service are asking me for his date of birth but I don't know it - how can I find out??

You'll also be asked for a 'place of birth', the registration district may not be sufficient.

These measures are in place where certificates are being requested for events that are less than 50 yrs old, primarily to prevent identity theft.
