Victor H Hawkins

Please help!
I'm trying to trace any records for my maternal grandfather Victor H Hawkins from Ontario, Canada. Victor served in the armed forces during WW2 and was based on the south coast of England. There he met my gandmother Irene Davis and had 2 children. At the end of the war he returned to his own family (and wife?) in Canada.
Can anyone suggest where I could start?

Because Canada does not have a central registry of BMDs as in Britain it is harder to find information.  This is further complicated by Canadian privacy laws which place restrictions on what information can be released and when.

The Legion magazine has a section for mililtary personnel deaths and it does list a Victor Hawkins

Hard to know if he is related or not.  Perhaps a google search of the military unit he served with would give you an idea of where he might have been in England.

Blimey! Yes my grandfather is Victor Haig Hawkins. My grandmother confirmed that this was his full name!

You could ask the Kingston Public Library to look him up in their city directories.  These gave address, employer and what occupation he was in.  Not sure when city directories became outdated and were replaced by ordinary telephone books.
