Henry COE c1750
« on: Friday 24 September 10 13:57 BST (UK) »
If anyone can find a baptism for a Henry Coe born c1750 give or take 5 years in Suffolk I would love to hear about it.  He was living in the parish of St Margaret South Elmham in the later part of the 18C but I am beginning to suspect he came from somewhere else.  Lowestoft perhaps as there appear to have been Henry Coe's there in the mid to late 1600's.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi

Not exactly what you asked for but it may be the baptism of his daughter, dates are certainly close.  This info came from FreeReg.

Search Record Details
County Suffolk
Place Rumburgh
Church St Michael
RegisterNumber
DateOfBirth
BaptismDate 30 Jun 1782
Forename Mary
Sex F
FatherForename Henry
MotherForename Mary
FatherSurname COE
MotherSurname
Abode
FatherOccupation
Notes
FileNumber 6357

Rumburgh is about 3 miles from your location according to google!

I am also researching Coes from near this area but back up a bit in Hales and local towns.  I haven't got this far back as yet but also appear to have a Henry Coe who mar. an Ann Banham in 1805.  Not sure of these facts as I have not verified them.  So at the moment i cannot help you further.

Thank you very much indeed - almost certainly the same Henry Coe & I hadn't found that particular child.   He seems to have 2 if not 3 wives all Mary's.  Abbey Farm, Rumburgh seems to have been a big local employer at the time & there are certainly later Coe's born there.

Hello Leanne

Is your Daniel COE born c1814 Hales, NFK?  I have a Daniel COE 1814 married to a Mary Ann living in Feltham, Middx in 1851; Twickenham, Middx 1861.

I could only find 2 marriages for a Daniel COE between 1841 & 1851:
1/  to Mary Ann CHADWICK JunQtr 1841 Mutford (Norfolk)
2/  in Kingsclere RD, Hants & no Mary Ann listed

If this is the same chap how did you arrive at the name Mary Ann TAPPS?

Hi Kezia,
My partners family Daniel COE From Research material was born March 1814 Essex, His wife's name TAPPS/HAPPS was from other researchers of the family of Daniel COE. I believe Hales is not to far from where the family supposedly lived. I think more research might have to be done, as there seems to be a lot of Daniel Coe,s around. Would you have any ideas on whether I have the right family ??

There was certainly a family living in Hales, Norfolk as you describe with a son Daniel born 1814 Baptised in Raveningham, Norfolk.  Daniel went on to live in Middlesex.

I will send you a PM & perhaps we can sort this out.
