Polly Sue,

It may be totally irrelevant, but have a look at www.calverley.info and go to the Farnley site, where there is a lot of information about Stephensons. (Farnley is technically part of Leeds, and always was).

Lindsay,

No. It's my mother's ancestors (Whitehead) who lived in Farnley. They were farmers.

My Armitages are from Leeds itself, since at least 1800. They were mill wrights, wheelwrights and the like.

Who were they and when did they live in Farnley? My mother comes from Farnley, she used to live at School House at the bottom of Lawns Lane. Her families were Hepworth and Asquith.

I'll ask her if she knew any Whiteheads.

regards,

Lindsay

Hi LindsaySiam
Just looking through the general search for surname Asquith and found your posting about your mothers families. I am researching our Asquith connection through the Hepworths. I am a descendant of the Hepworths of Emley in Yorkshire and as far as I know have connections with Lord Asquith however have not been able to make the  connections. Is yours the same Asquiths?
Would like to get in contact with anyone who has the same famly names.
Best wishes Mercel

Hello Mercel, I am not sure that we have any connections to Lord Asquith or at least I haven't heard of a connection :-) my mother researches this side of the family.

Emley doesn't ring any bells either, I'll ask my mother if she knows anything about Hepworths from Emley.   How do your Hepworths and Asquiths connect, can you give me any names please and I'll have a look to see if I know them, you can PM me with the names if you'd prefer.

regards,

Lindsay
