Please help! - Birth look-up desperately needed to establish right connection.
Edward Bevan
b: March 1841
Place: Bedwellty Pits, Tredegar, Monmouthshire.
Father's name: Thomas Bevan - Collier
Residence at time of Edward's marriage is Victoria and he married a Margaret Edwards in 1866 in Tredegar Chapel.

I would like to order the certificate but I need the date or at least the GRO index number - so if anyone can help, then many thanks in advance.

Thanks again

Many thanks for your help!

However it is the birth certificate I require, as I already have his marriage cert - didn't really make myself very clear did I.

Thanks again

Edward is on the 1851 census aged 10 with parents Thomas & Sarah, but there's no sign of the family in 1841. Births in Bedwellty at that time would show as registered in Abergavenny. There is no registration showing up for an Edward Bevan in that district.

Where did you get the date of March 1841 from? If he was born then, he should be on the 1841 census as it was in June.

There is the possibilty that he was born before his parents' marriage & is registered under his mother's maiden name. Or he just wasn't registered at all.

I have Edward's  marriage cert and it states his age is 25years, so that is how I came to the year, however can't remember how I established March, the only conclusion I can come up with is might have came across it on Ancestory - I am not registered at the moment, so can't double check.

The address on the marriage cert is Victoria and the marriage took place at Tredegar Chapel on 18 August 1866, I also have the 1851, 1861, 1871, 1881, 1891, 1901 Census records for Edward.
1851 - Place of birth - Monmouth
1861 - N R - not sure what this means (he was away working)
1871 - Place of birth - Sirhowy
1881 - Place of birth - Sirhowy
1891 - Place of birth - Tredegar
1901 - Place of birth - Breconshire, ???bridge

Any help is appreciated!
Enjoy your day

1861 his p.o.b. is (I think) NK-not NR - meaning not known

this could be Thomas with his family in 1841

Penmark, Hamlet of Manmoel HO107/750/10 folio 16 pg 24
David Bevan 61 iron miner N
Mary 55 N
Thomas 25 Y
William 15 Y
David 12 Y
N= not born in county, Y= born in county

You could email the registrars to see if they can trace a birth registration or marriage that fits

Edward's birth reg is

1841 Newport JFM qtr 26 106

His parents are Thomas Bevan (collier) and Sarah Arthur.
Thomas married Sarah  6th May 1842  (Thomas was full age and Sarah was a minor I have the marriage certificate) therefore Edward was born before Thomas and Sarah were married.

Incidentally Thomas's father is also a Thomas Bevan on their marriage cert occ. Miner( which could be of either iron/coal.)

Best wishes
Annie
