In Charing there is a Joseph Gilham born to John & Ann 8/7/1769 and c 23/7/1769

Charing is not too far from Eastling !!

The IGI has John Gillham marrying Ann Tanton in Charing 23/9/1758

I have to say this needs checking as my Charing records do not have this marriage.

I will be in Canterbury next week and will check this for you

 :)Thats the Family in Charing refered to  in my previous post.
There were still Gilhams in Stalisfield when I lived there back in the 1960,s. I think one family worked for Vants Farm in the village and the other worked at Corner House Wingfield Cattle  Farm. I dont know how the name was spelt.

Looking at the pilot record search, John Gillham marries Ann Tanton in Lenham 26/9/1759

and it also has the Charing marriage

Good Morning all or should I say Good Evening to you.
Lisingreece, I am way down here in  New Zealand so to think you would go to Canterbury and check it out is wonderful.  Must be wonderful to be so handy to all these ancient places.  I did see the Ann Tanton marriage but there was a couple of others and thats what confused me.  I will look forward to your findings.
Yasamar49.   I was so interested in the Gilham Cottage that you mentioned and will tuck that piece of information away also.
Grandarpog. The fact that Gilhams still lived in the area back in the '60's will blow away the relatives down here if they are our lot. The older generation have all died away now- along with the old stories about the old country and who was who - with my mother being the last which prompted me to go into this genealogy venture for the next generations down here
There seems to be so many Gilhams even going back to France.  If I can link them how wonderful that would be
I do so much appreciate your help and guidance in this quest.

Refering to your post on 21 Sept. re GILLHAM Joseph  you were going into Canterbury and were going to check the record of the marriage John Gilham and Ann Tanton  see your posts.
I wondered what you found as I am still not sure which marriage to take.

             Dont worry you arent doing anything wrong ,the open folder means it is a topic you are posting in.
            If you scroll to thr bottom of the topic list page there is are key diagrams of what all the different folder symbols indicate . Eg Hot,Locked,Normal etc.

Thanks for that - what is the lock and unlocked for then?

Joined Genes Reunited but so far no luck with the Gillham contacts - maybe they have hit a brick wall also.   
Keep on searching I guess.

Must say I did notice an improvment over the last couple of months of the website - looked tidier somehow or maybe it was just me
