Hi Roger,
Flattery will get you everywhere - a bit long in the tooth myself but being descended from the Kentish I will take that compliment as well.
Oh thank you for the Hot Topic icon.   Wasn't complaining just couldn't find anywhere on the site that explained the icons at the time.
Cheers

Well I have our answer, the marriage is not in Charing PRs but in Lenham.

Joseph Gilham of Charing! m Ann Tanton, by Banns both signed with a cross, witnesses John Drewry and William Drewry Sept 1758

So this means he is the Joe Gilham of Charing!!

Lis

PS I'll be in Canterbury next week as well, so if there are villages not covered by the new record search I can check anything again.

Hi Lis, :)
Thats the John and Ann that I reckon are the main subject Joseph Gilhams parents . He may well have been born at born at Eastling and he was then   Christened at Charing ,where his parents were probably atttending church and knew the Parson who had married them.
                                              Regards Rog.
