Re: HAVARD Cconnection?

Hi,
I am in Australia and have just seen your postings on the Havard family, and hope you can help my search.
I am trying to find what happened to Iris G Havard/Sibley, born Sept. Qtr. 1915 West Ham. Her father was William Sibley (my research) and mother was Maude Van Okker, who after divorce in 1919 married Charles Simmons Havard , born 1893 in Lambeth, Surrey, in 1921. Charles's parents were Charles Phillip Havard born 1854, and Emily Simmons born 1857, both in Abergavenny, Monmouthshire, South Wales.

In the Freebdm Birth Entries for Iris G, she is listed as both Sibley and Havard, which would indicate she was adopted by Charles. I found a marriage entry in 1943 to a James Petch in Coventry, but not sure if it is the right Iris.

It is possible that Iris may have been the last descendant of this Sibley family line living in England unless she had children, so we are very keen to find out more about the Havard connection. William Sibley was my wife's 1st cousin twice removed. Hope someone can help.

Best Regards,
Peter Robbie

Hello Peter,

Unfortunately this is not part of my Havard family tree. Although they can probably eventually all traced back to the same person, there are currently about 4 known different Havard families with no known commections between any of them.

It may be worth you (if you haven't already done so), putting a similar message on the Monmouthshire section of this site as well as London. Even Warwickshire in England may be worth trying for the Coventry marriage connection.

Sorry I cant be of any more help.

Best of luck

Julie

Hello All,

I am one of ALICE ROSE HAVARD's great-granddaughters.

Alice Rose's daughter LENA MONTGOMERY is my mum's mother.

Lena's life was extremely troubled following the death of her first husband IVOR WEST in WWII.

Consequently, my mother was placed in foster care as a baby, and she and her siblings were not made known to each other till adulthood. As you can imagine, this was complicated by surname changes through being fostered or even adopted in a couple of cases.

I am happy to share more with any extended family, but since my mum and most of her siblings are still living, I can't post anything too sensitive on here for public viewing.

But I would like to get to know any kin I have and exchange info.

Not sure where Mum got them, but I have a few photos of some of the elder Havards that I can share at a later date, once I have access to a scanner.

Sorry my reply is a couple of years late!

Best regards,
Imogen
