Sian - having seen the additional info that you sent,  I think that this is more likely than the Sweeney one as George is consistent with his place of birth as Rhos.

It was very kind of you to look, Paul, I suspected something like that though 

Sian - census ages can vary considerably - George is down as born circa 1865-67 on all the censuses and is consistent in his place of birth.

I think that we now have to wait for the marriage cert. Do report back when you get it as we might be able to take you back further.

As far as you are aware, did he have any other names. Looking at the Welsh BMD, we have two or three just George and others with George <second name>. I'd really like to cross them off 

I suppose the marriage cert will arrive soon though
