Bridgewater Lichfield/Tamworth

Hi Im trying to find any information about George Bridgewater b1849/50 in Stopwas? Staffordshire, Ive got him on 1851 census aged 1 living with parents Thomas and Elizabeth in Brookend, cant find anything else about him on 1861 census hes not there, just parents plus 2 daughters aged 3 and 10months on 1881 census same family then had 2 grandchildren which I can only guess George was the father of, have no isea now how to follow this line, I think that George is my grandfather Thomas Bridgewater b1901 grandfather would really appreciate any help

Could you please give us some more details so we may try identify your family easier. Things like parents ages, where they were born, did they stay in the same address/area? Other childres ages?There may be a vital clue there that would make the difference..You never know!!!

What certificates do you have with information on?

George Bridgewater was born 1849/50 stopwas Staffordshire, his parents were Thomas Bridgewater b1824/5 Elizabeth formerly Arnold b1829 Leics father born in Drayton Basset Stafford. On 1851 census they had 2 children Rachel b1849 and george b1850 living in Brookend. In 1861 census Thomas and Elizabeth are living in Swinfen with daughters Betsy aged 3 and Ellen 10months, no mention of George or Rachel, in 1881 family still in Swinfen but with daughters Betsy 23 Lucy 12 son William 9 and then grandson Thomas 10 and grandaughter Elizabeth 4, I have my grandfathers cert and his father is Thomas from this family who married Mary Bates but am only guessing that George is my grandfathers grandfather not sure now how to carry on.

Found this death, only purchasing the certificate will confirm it or not. There are many George Bridgewaters on the records. The best way of research is to go one step at a time using certificates, parish records, censuses etc. Confirming data at every step. Hope some of this may help.

Stopwas = Hopwas, the cottages called flatts cottages are most likely on Flatts lane Weeford. regards Phil.
