Death in Andalucia!

Hi all,

I've just found out that my father's ancestors, born and bred in Tipton in the heart of the Black Country died in a little town called 'Jun' near Granada in Andalucia.  The couple, Isaac and Grace Gutteridge, nee Whitehouse, married here (UK) in 1696 and three known children up to 1704, but then are listed within several (more than coincidence) family trees to which I've connected as dying in Spain.

The question is why on earth were they there?!!  Why would apparently working class people whose ancestors became coalminers and publicans be in southern Europe in the early 18th Century?  And is it possible to access records for this period in Spain (for someone who speaks only a few words of Spanish)?

All advice (as this is way out of my usual genealogical exploits!) gratefully accepted.

Isaac and Grace are my ancestors and I was wondering if you have been able to find any further info as to why they where in Granada? Just for interest I have visited Jun a small village near Granada where their deaths took place and contacted a very helpful guy in the Town Hall, he too me to the local cemetery and helped me to look for signs of their burial. Unfortunately in Spain burial plots are not for ever and can be removed after a period of time so nothing was found. He did offer a suggestion as to why the both died together in the same year. There was a major TB outbreak in the 1740's and hundreds died but without more research in Granada precise information is difficult to find.

Any records would be held at city hall and maybe the local church.
