Is this still active? I’m a Joy also looking for Joy history, although I’m a relative youngster. My great grandfather was William Edwin Joy of cranbrook.

Hi

I am still around and researching the Joy family although not for a while.

Is there anything you are looking for in particular?

I will refresh my memory on what I have.

Hi again

I have a William Edwin Alexander Joy who died 1 March 1936.  The National Probate Calendar gives his home address as Oakmead, Waterloo Road, Cranbrook.

He was born in 1876 and he was married to Louisa Kate Dumbrell on 7 June 1896 in Paddock Wood.  I have a record of 8 children for the couple.

Is this you great grandfather?

I have previoulsy found a fair amount on this family.

They are distant Joy relatives of mine who descended from the Brenchley family of Joys.

Hi Barbara

Yeah I believe that to be correct William joy and Louisa Dumbrel. My grandfather dare I say it was Albert (Bert) Joy  brother of Harry James Joy. From what I’m told there was some conflict within the family so I might come across a few walls that are still firm to this day.

Kind Regards

I have Bertie Stephen Joy born 1906 who married and had 2 sons.  I won't name the boys here as they may still be alive.

Harry James was one of Bertie's older brothers who died in WW1.

Let me know if I can help.
