I can't see deaths for James NORTON or Charlotte NORTON { nee REDFORD}.
I can't see a marriage for them either or any other children listed.
What else can you tell us about him ?
There are too many marriages to be sure which one might be him .

thanks for very prompt response. I know and have a lot of detail on these people but John has "gone missing"

John has three siblings .... Ellen Esther my mother,  Sarah Louisa, and Michael  all born at Glenmaggie/Maffra

Parents are definitely   James Joseph Norton & Charlotte Louisa Reford      marriage ref = 860

Now I see Charlotte's death :
Charlotte Louisa NORTON d 1940 aged 70 West Brunswick - parents  Alfred RETFORD and  Sarah unknown # 7165
and maybe
James Joseph NORTON d 1945 aged 72 Carnegie -  Robert Thomas NORTON and  Ellen TOOGOOD # 4479

When was John last heard of and where ? What was his occupation ?
Where was the family living at the time ?

If you were to obtain  the death certificates for John's parents it should tell you  the number of children they had and if they were alive or deceased at the time of their deaths

However, the information will be only as good as the informants knowledge of the deceased.
