MYERS - stuck before I've started!
« on: Wednesday 15 September 10 19:58 BST (UK) »
Hi everyone, I have been tracing my family tree for the last couple of years and have easily traced it back to the 1700's using Scotland's People online. My partner has now asked me to do his for him - which is the family name Myers, coming from London and I cannot seem to get started! Are there no sites where you can pay per view and see BMD certificates online? It seems costly and time consuming to order certificates which may ultimately be the wrong ones!

Ok, my partner's Father was Rodney Myers, born 4/9/32. His Mother was, we believe, Edith Clifton.  The only one we could find in London was Edith E Clifton, who Married Nathaniel MEYERS(?) in oct/nov/dec 1929, and that's where I'm stuck!!

Would the name spelling change like that only 2 generations ago?  I can't find a birth for him, nor do I know where to get the marriage certificate for their details....

a search for a nathaniel meyers gives very few results,,,whereas there are a few myers,,,,,i would say that it would be not impossible that either the marriage entry was mistranscribed,,,or that they decided to anglicise thier surname,
however i think the only way forward would be to buy rodneys birth cert... ;)

Hiya, Rodney did have a Sister... my partner thinks her name is/was Pat/patricia (Sorry, he's no good at this hence me doing it!) It's all a bit vague and I may well have to apply for his full birth certificate to get out of the starting blocks!
