Murphy from Loughrea
« on: Tuesday 14 September 10 18:54 BST (UK) »
Hi

I'm trying to find out about Winifred Murphy born around 1839 in Loughrea. Her parents were William Murphy and Catherine Cain. Also any info on them would be great.
Thank you,
Cappy

Cappy,

I found a possibility for one of my Murphy's yesterday on the Boston Pilot site placed by a Michael Murphy from Loughrea Galway in 1862. He was looking for his sister, a Bridget Murphy from this parish, giving 1858 as the time for her arrival in Binghamton, NY. This was my grt grt grandmother's destination time period for her arrival in Binghamton. Fortunately out of the 2 or 3 Bridget Murphys she is the only one in this  entire NY county who fits this time period. I know her father's name was William and her mother's name Catherine. I don't know the maiden name. This Boston Pilot posting also names a brother Patrick Murphy in Binghamton, NY. My Bridget Murphy was born about 1838. She had a sister Margaret born about 1840. The name Winifred is not familiar but the parents names of William and Catherine combined with the Boston Pilot posting regarding Loughrea caught my attention. My Murphys have been a struggle to find so I'd appreciate anything more you can tell me about your Murphys of Loughrea. Thank you.

Dana
