Death Record

My great aunt - Ann Tudor married a Franc Alfred Lemiuex in 1879 at West Derby, his occupation on their marriage cert is "Marriner".  I havent found him on any census records before or after their marriage.  By 1901
Ann is a "widow" on census.
Would I every beable to find out what happened to Franc?
Have searched death UK death indexes.  When ships were lost at sea,
are these and their crews recorded anywhere?

there is Ann Lemieux age 40 living West derby district in 1891 -she is a widow
Just thought if this is your Ann then it would narrow the timescale of Franc's death???

There would be marine deaths (these can be found on some sites such as FindMyPast), if the ship he was sailing on was British-registered.
Have you found her in the 1881 census, and were there any children?

Lots of mariners died at sea, and their bodies were washed up, unrecognisable some time later.  Most churches near the coast have burial registers with "unknown mariner" or "found on the beach" in them.
