hi, just wondering if anyone can tell me if the royal artillery is part of the royal engineers ,my dad was a gunner in the artillery, but on the photo of him his cap badge is more like the engineers. pete

Pete,
The Royal Artillery & Royal Engineers are two completely separate units of the British Army.
Is it possible to show the photograph at all?

Hi Pete,
If your Dad was listed as a gunner & you have a photo of him wearing a Royal Engineers badge I can only guess that he was transfered at some time in his career.
As an example, one of my uncles started the second world war as a gunner in the Royal Artillery & ended as a private in the Lincolnshire Regiment!
