Two new messages from the website guestbook following requests for grave searches.

SLOANE/HARDMAN/ROBERTS  ..Thank you dosn't seem adequate to explain my feelings for you finding and photographing my G and GGmothers  grave.
I have searched the graveyard a few times and was unable to find it. Many years ago the office at Philips Park could not tell me if there was a headstone or where the grave was, saying that the records had been destroyed.
I can now visit the grave and pay my respects.

I would just like to thank the team for helping me locate the gravestone of my Great, Great grandfather. On my first visit to the MGC I just didn’t know where to start but with the help of the team I was able to find the plot and get a great photo of the stone. It is clear from my visits that there is a lot of good hard work being put in by the team so a big thank you to you all!
By the way, the comment on the web-site about wildlife is spot on. Some very interesting species to be seen.

The number of visitors to the website has now exceeded 5,000.

With everyone being busy bees, there was only the two of us again today

For quite a few times now there has only been the two of us, but we get loads done!!

Almost completed the last section for visibles!! Then will be 100% completed on visibles.  We now know how many need to be uncovered and will work on those next year!!  Council workers will re-erect fallen face down gravestones and once those are done, it just a matter of finishing transcribing, which is moving along great!!! 

Will soon be wrapping things up for the winter!!  Maybe sooner than we thought as we are ahead of the planned schedule.

Remember the item about Mr Rogerson's duck Barbara found during her search of the newspaper archives:-

Newcastle Courant 24 May 1850
"An egg was laid on Saturday morning, by a duck belonging to Mr. J. B. Rogerson, registrar of the Harpurhey Cemetery, Manchester; it measured in length 8 inches and in circumference 6½ inches; and weighs a quarter of a pound and 18 grains avoirdupois. The duck is a white one, of small breed, and lays regularly every morning."

We have just received a contact via our website from John Bolton Rogerson's
3 x gt grandson, Michael, who found the item amusing and wished us well with the project.

Still puzzled why the item would be of interest to readers in Newcastle-upon-Tyne though.
