Thank you, it was happy  :D

Lovely weather today and not too much digging this time (not for me and Beannie anyway)

Looking forward to working off the Easter eggs in 2/3 weeks time!

                                                     Hi Everyone!!!

Just an update:

We have been notified that the re-erection programme for the headstones is underway. The team arrived at The Manchester General Cemetery on Monday 9th May to Set Up.

So, good news and possible bad news?   As the work is now in progress we need to get those stones who's inscriptions will be lost!

Whilst we have had a great response in help at the Cemetery, we still need more!!

Cancan :)

                                             Hi Everyone!!!

We arrived at the Cem this morning to find the gates locked!

I think they forgot about us!  Will be contacting Council in the morning!!!

The Workmen have definitely started work!   :P Whilst it looks better in appearance!

It's disastrous for our project!  :'(

                                  >:( Major parts of transcriptions are being lost!! >:(

Personally the team feels it would be just better to lay the stones flat, which is what we mentioned to the Council!  But what do we know??? :-\

All hands on deck needed!!! Anyone who can spare even an hour!! Please Please do so!!!

'goldy' had a great day!!  Two years she has been searching for her family Gravestone!! Which the Council have no record of!!  And she found it!!!

So, what we are doing is very worth while!!!!

So, come along and give a hand!!  We do have a laugh!!! It's not all hard work!!!

Cancan :)

Hope I can make it for next week -

and just to say to anyone else who might be thinking about it, don't be put off by the 9.30 am start. I have to travel quite a way and I NEVER get there much before 11.30 when I go. Any amount of help is fantastic, so if you have an hour to spare and you're not a morning person, trot along anyway, it really is good fun  :D

Hi Barbara,

It will be great to you, if you can make it!!

Yesterday we worked through the rain, until the papers got so wet you couldn't write on them anymore.   :'(

Our aim now is to stay one step ahead of the Council Workers!

We have moved to other sections, with the aim of getting as much done as possible, before the Gravestones are re-erected.  We know we cannot get all the inscriptions for those that are, but we're hoping to get the majority.

We did have a visitor yesterday whilst at the Cem, a Gentleman got intouch, and we invited him down, as he has been searching for his Family Gravestone, we managed to find and uncover it (Flat Stone) for him to Photograph.  And it was nowhere near were he'd been told it was!!

He is going to come on a couple of Sundays to help out!!  Thank you!!

Fingers crossed for the weather on Sunday, but, we'll get some big Umbrellas incase!!

There's No Stopping us!!!

Cancan :)

A reply from our visitor:

A big Thank You to you, Cancan and the team for helping me to find my
Great x2 Grandparents grave it's been an exciting day uncovering the
headstone. I've promised Cancan I will donate a couple of Sundays at the Cemetery
to help out she is going to email me some dates and times.
