MGCTP Website Update - Timeline and Stillborn Burials
« Reply #459 on: Sunday 07 October 12 14:11 BST (UK) »
Hi,

Two new pages added to the website - Timeline and Stillborn Burials.

If anyone has any interesting items for the Timeline, I would be pleased to receive them.

With regard to the Stillborn Burials - we have now compiled an index for Manchester General Cemetery.  This will never be published online, however, we will be pleased to check for names, addresses etc.,

We are also hoping to get our new plan of the Cemetery on the website very soon together with photographs of the different areas.

Number of visitors to our website has now topped 16,000  :D.

The rain and bad weather may have left the Cemetery waterlogged and slowed down our progress with the digging and uncovering but it has given us the opportunity to catch up with the transcribing and the time to make progress with the mapping.

I've just stumbled across this thread and I can't tell you how excited I am.  I need to go through each page to see what you've all been up to.

I live in Canada and went to the cemetery a couple of years ago to try and find where my ancestors were buried and to get photographs of the stone.  I spent about five hours going row by row and I had no luck in finding the stones.

I'm thrilled that you've taken on this project and can't wait to see the results.  I thank you all for your hard work, determination and effort.  It's truly appreciated.

Hi Diane,

Welcome to Rootschat and thanks so much for posting on our thread and for your comments  :D.

We will be pleased to try and help you find out whereabouts in the Cemetery your ancestors are buried and if there are stones, we can send you photographs.

Please feel free to send a PM (personal message) to either Cancan or Luzzu - you need to make 3 posts on Rootschat to use the PM system.  Alternatively, visit the project website - www.mgctp.moonfruit.com - and you can use the "Contact Us" page to get in touch.

One more post and I'll PM you.  I just went digging through my papers and I have the grave number.

Thank you Luzzu!

Just one more post and I'll stop spamming.  I went and checked out your website - it looks fabulous.

I just wanted to add that I actually have an original funeral card for Benjamin (Ben) Brierley's daughter Annie.  Maybe you would like a copy for your website?  Let me know.

Contact us with any mistranscriptions or misspellings ....

PLEASE HELP US ...

Have you searched for your ancestor's burial using Manchester City Council's Online Burials website but in doing so have found the name of your ancestor has been mistranscribed or misspelt?

http://www.burialrecords.manchester.gov.uk/

With the continued and valued support of the Bereavement Services Team at  Manchester City Council, we hope to be able to help them make as many corrections as possible.

Probably this will be done on completion of the MGCTP but in the meantime we would like you to contact us with any mistranscriptions or misspellings.

Cancan and Luzzu  :D
