Just added more soldiers to our website page.  We now have 86 in our database and as work continues the team are confident of finding more.

Some of them are from gravestones which until recently were either buried or lying face down.  Don't forget, if you are related to a soldier on our list, please contact us.  We can provide a photograph and location of the grave or memorial (some are not actually buried in the Cemetery but have had their names inscribed on the family gravestone).

« Reply #379 on: Wednesday 04 April 12 14:09 BST (UK) »
Hi,

Posting on behalf of Cancan who is having a nightmare with her broadband/telephone company and consequently has no connection at the moment and probably until after Easter.

There will not be a groundwork day on Sunday, 8 April 2012 because its Easter Sunday.

If anyone needs to contact Cancan in the meantime, feel free to PM me.

Luzzu  :)

Hi Sezzle,

Something a little bigger than a trowel - Spade!! :D

We have all upright & visible Gravestones mapped & transcribed.
All that is left is the flat stones to uncover. Some are only a couple of inches of soil, others deeper.

If you PM your email address to me, I can notify you of any last minute changes due to weather. Too wet we cannot dig.  Good pair of boots needed!! ;)

It would be great to see you!!!

Consecrated at the top of the hill & the right hand side up the hill! Plus part of the middle section. Plus part of the left hand side up the hill.

Our website will soon display the new Map of the cemetery with all the plots on.

But if we can help with any info just PM the details. Is it C1268 your looking for?

The Cemetery is all but closed to burials, only two have happened in 2 years, so not in use much. Council have to spend resources on open cemeteries, but it is a lot better than in 2010 when we first started the project.
