Flenley or variant thereof leaving Ireland c.16/1700s?

Hi

So, the Flenley line dries up circa 1780 with the birth of William Flenley, son of William Flenley, birthdate unknown. Family folklore says the name originated in Ireland but no concrete facts to back this up.

Anyone any clue about families leaving Ireland for England in the 1600s - 1700s? I can't find lists of ships for such a comparatively short journey; the family legend is two fellas came up with the name on board ship so not too confident of finding these lads!!

   Unfortunately, at your dates, the whole of Ireland was part of the United Kingdom so no records exist of those moving within the U.K.

All, would appreciate any further help on offer!

Recent DNA testing shows Flenley to be related to Flannery in Co Mayo, possibly Castlebar, as either Flannelly or Flannery.

No ideas where to go with this. Any Flannerys/Flannellys out there know of historical Flenley links?

The name Fennelly (plus variants) is common in Carlow and Laois
