Info matches that in the convict registers, so probably where it came from.

Submitted info on the IGI is not just from PRs, and should always be checked out thoroughly.

Thanks Ian. What's a PR?

I've found the record for Henry born of Richard and Pamela in pilot.familysearch.org. It lists a Baptism/Christening in 1851 at LAVERSTOCK, WILTSHIRE, ENGLAND, and a Birth in 1831 at same (Laverstock, Wilts, Eng). Google maps doesn't show me a Winburne, but does seem to indicate it's near Salisbury. Laverstock shows as a relatively new area in Salisbury. Could these indicate the same area and person?

This conflicts with the 1851 census that shows Wilscombe, Dorset (or Wivelscombe, Somerset)? I wonder which piece of info is reliable?

I'm not sure if Richard (or Richard+Pamela) is my Henry's father. But I have found a baptism record for him in Portsea on pilot.familysearch.org under the "England and Wales, Non-Conformist Record Indexes".  It has a date of 24 Jul 1796, with parents Henry and Sarah Doughty. Does "baptism" imply Catholic vs. CofE?

The record says Orange Street Independent - not catholic, but one of the 'breakaway' churches which later formed the Congregational Church.

PR is parish register.
