GRONI (General Register Office of Northern Ireland) is for Northern Ireland certificates (during WWI Ireland was one country and the present Northern Ireland did not exist).
Where did the person die? (unlikely to be in Ireland if WWI death)
See www.cwgc.org for Commonwealth War Graves Commission website.
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

Thanks Erin and Agha, he was Richard Deasy born 1873/4. He was always said to be lost at sea. He is not mentioned in 1901/11 Irish cencus.  History isn't great but I checked up 1911 free info in UK and they had a listing. So he must have been alive then. I reckon he was killed at sea during WW1.

There is also a Roger Deasy from Roberts Cove listed in the site above.
Think this could be his fathers 1st cousin, as Richards father is also Roger.

There is also a (Richard/ Roger) Aiden Deasy which must be a 2nd cousin to Top Richard- not mentioned in the site above but mentioned in the 1911 Iris cencus.
The cousins Roger and Aiden were also in Navy as listed in cencus as retired naval pensioners.

Sorry for the confusion. Going back further there are Richards and Rogers and their descendants are aslo Richards and Rogers. I'd have more luck panning for gold in my back garden! Cheers Guys.
Ps do you think this post will be the new she sells sea shells by the sea shore, but the shells that she sell....LOL

I should also have mentioneed that cousins to Richard- Roger and Aiden were I think father and son, as father Rogers' kids are listed as born in Co Wexford, and Aiden in 1911 is also born in Wexford- by which stage Roger has passed away.

You should be able to get a copy of the original  including photograph from

http://www.southampton.gov.uk/s-leisure/artsheritage/history/archives/collections/merhantseamen/centralindex.aspx

As the photographs are small ask for a copy 50% larger it should cost around £20 all in. Be sure to mention his Dis A number.

There may be crew lists at other archives for all of the ships mentioned but it would appear he left the sea in 1921 just ask Southampton if he has any records after 1921. I can find no WW2 MN records for him.

God Bless your sealegs Seaweed. This is so exciting. There's been nearly four generations talking about this man, it was a mystery. And an actual photo too. 1st bit of concrete documentation I've got since I've started searching nearly two years ago. Thanks from the whole family. Cheers Din

Hi Seaweed a man did a search for me and it looks like there was 2 Richard Deasy:
DOB 1974 from Co. Cork in Merchant Navy
DOB 1973 from Co. Cork in Royal Navy
Could it be the same man?

Dincur
There was a Richard Deasy aged 51 (Dob circa 1874) with 35 years sea service recorded as being a Pumpman aboard the “Olna” which arrived in Boston 13th July 1925 having sailed from London he signed on in Tilbury 4th June 1925

also royal Navy there is also a Richard Deasy with a DoB 1873

I can understand your elation and your enthusiasm but take it from me,  if you wish to pursue this exercise to a positive conclusion, just slow down a little and look for facts.
You ask in a further post.

In my opinion it is the same man. See DOB. To prove it , you need to obtain the following records.

Thanks Seaweed. Can see where you are coming from now. Will get back to you in a few weeks with the answers. South Hampton are doing renovations in the buildings and aren't answering any searches for another while. Talk soon. Thanks Din.
