Hi

What was his exact date of birth and who were his parents?

Haven't found anything - but - this information can often be found in Canadian records and would be useful to compare to when looking at possibles.

Cheers

Hi,

As AMBLY said more info is needed. There are a couple George Murray soldiers who could fit the 1885 birth date.

Library & Archives Canada has a lot available online but we need you to help us.

The 1911 Canada census has 4 George Murray's in Quebec.

george was born 5/9/1885 crimmond aberdeenshire scotland. parents george murray and Isabella forsyth. had a brother charles. as I said ,last known he was apprentice printer in 1901 in fraserburgh scotland.
not knowing when he emigrated is a nuisance. this novice would appreciate any help in pointing me in the right direction. i am told there are thousands of murrays in canada. maybe I will strike lucky!!!

Hi

Yep, tons of George MURRAY's on the passenger lists who are born approx 1885 too  ;D

Another question, what were some of the Address' in Aberdeen for his parents?  I've found two George MURRAY's travelling so far who give an address in Aberdeen (on of a wife, amd one of a mother named Mrs MURRAY whose address is -----inch Nigg, Aberdeen)

Cheers

sorry ambly  computer on the blink.
as far as I know george was still with his parents in FRASERBURGH in 1901.at present we cant get the 1911 census. that would be a great help in finding out where he was  then. Of course there is always the thought that he went to Aberdeen to do his training and maybe he lodged somewhere. where exactly do you look to find the passenger lists for canada. Again I dont know where he went from. researching isnt easy , is it. but we do get in contact with a lot of people, dont we!  fingers crossed again

Have had a look thinking lots of young men left the UK prior to WW1 (no wonder!) so I searched 1901 - 1914 and there were 35 George Murrays.  However of that 35 some have no YOB and only 4 are down as YOB 1885 and two have middle initials which you may be able to discount.
