Given the same grave is quoted for both and the bmd confirms Lewis it looks like the transcription is incorrect

I should have said that the gravestone reads Lewis Lloyd (Morgan) son of.

Both the census and BMD give his name as Louis L (well the census shows Louis LL).  That is not the transcription, but the actual census page, which was completed by the householder in 1911.

So are we saying the BMD and the census is wrong, or the gravestone?

my gt grandfather was called lewis,but on my grandfathers marriage cert,he was down as louis
could daniel be the childs godfather

I think this is one of those things that will bug me for ages!!.....
Mack.....I hadn't thought of Daniel being a godfather possibility....I suppose trying to obtain a christening record will be the way to go....if he was christened of course and where who knows!!....
