Has Attestation Papers for
Percy George Ellott
b. 17/03/1886 Broywich, Berkshire
Next of kin is listed at Mary Ann Elliott, mother
He is listed as married, Wheelwright
Regimental # 2850
He enlisted in Toronto, Ontario April 26, 1915. You can view his attestation papers at the above site for free. You can also order his complete military file from the same site. There are usually about 40 pages in the files. The information and instructions for ordering are available at the site. He joined in Toronto so it is doublful that he originally joined the Princess Patricia's Light Infantry. More likely that he was part of the 1st CCB (Canadian Cavalry Brigade) which is on his attestation papers. Many service men ended up with other brigades, battalions and divisions when they reached England. His military file will have information as to his next of kin, pay documents and if he alloted money to anyone, where he served and when he transferred from one regiment/brigade/ battaliion to another. It will also have information regarding if he was injured/wounded. Also when he was repatriated to Canada, the ship and his address on his return to Canada. Sometimes we are lucky and the death date and place is included. With you having little info on this person, this file could be a great starting point for you to find more information.

I checked the on-line telephone directory
www.canada411.ca
and there are only 6 Ellott's listed for Canada and they are is Ontario and British Columbia. One could be related to your Percy George.
Also information for Percy could be transcribed as Elliott. On his attestation papers, the next of kin is actually down as Elliott.

Did Percy marry in 1902 in England. On both ancestry and the free BMD site, there is a marriage for Percy George Ellott in Dec. 1902 in Camberwell. The other listing for females at the same time are Maude Fanny Ayers and Mary Ethel Lee. Do you know if your Percy married one of them?

Passengers lists has
Percy Geo Elliott, male, age 26, b. abt 1885
Date of Arrival: 21 July 1911, Quebec
Teutonic
He is listed as a farmer and single but is headed for Toronto so could be your Percy. If so, he will not show up on the 1911 Census of Canada. Hope this helps and gives you something to work on. did any other family members come to Canada either before or after Percy. If he was married, do you know what happened to his wife.

Thank you for your reply, l should have put more information but did not want to make it too long winded, have his full service record from Canada he was demobilized and returned on the EMT Regina embarking Liverpool 20 5 1919 and disembarked Halifax 28 5 1919, his proposed residence is marked as Toronto and has been stamped confirmation on 31 5 1919 in Toronto.
He was married to Maud Fanny Ayers and had 2 sons all of which are on the 1911 English census but no Percy George Ellott, both sons died in England trying to find out what happened to Maud.
Have Ellotts in Canada mainly round Whistler area, it seems he returned to Canada 1919 and never came back to England.
