« on: Friday 03 September 10 05:51 BST (UK) »
Hi all. Does anyone have access to the electoral rolls covering Fairfield/Buxton to look up the residents/ancestors at addresses: number 4 and 16 New High St Fairfield from 1850's onwards??

I'll also take any advice!!

Hi,

I don't have the Electoral Rolls but perhaps if you were to give a bit more information there could be alternative sources, for example are you looking for a particular name?  Some 1870 residents of Fairfield are listed here:

According to Genuki the population of Fairfield remained static, at least until 1831 when there were less than 500 residents.  Have you gone through the 1851 census?

Very few people had the right to vote in the 1850's or do you mean the 1950's?

Thanks for the headsup.

I am essentailly trying to find out who lived at number 4 and number 16 New High St Fairfield from 1900 onwards. In particult the surnames Proctor and Hyde who from the census info occupied these addresses up until the 1911 so I am trying to find out who lived at these addresses from 1911 onwards as far as possible??

Is this possible??

Regards

Hi LindsayH,

I think if you make contact here:

Derbyshire Dales District Council, Town Hall,
Bank Road, Matlock DE4 3NN
01629 761100

they should be able to point you in the right direction for the Electoral Rolls - more likely to be accessible after 1900 than in the 1850's!
