Hi Rob

I'll leave you to do all the charting, etc. and if you have any queries, give a shout  :)

I can't find any death for Thomas Dorian (although the name seems to be mistranscribed a lot) but Bridget is down as married rather than widowed on the 1861 and Agnes's marriage in 1868 has him as not deceased  :-\

Hi There,

You mention that Agnes was the eldest daughter of Bridget. This may confirm a rumour that my wife, the granddaughter of James Gove (bn 1908) heard  that Bridget may have had a child before she met Munro, and who was living in Canada. Apparently this was strongly denied by her grandfather, but  the truth seems to have come to light.

If you need any more info, let me know and I'll try and help.

All the best

Luxdan :D  :D

Hi,

Great to hear from you.  Yes Anges (she was born in 1893) and my grandfather John came to Canada in 1919 and settled on a farm in Merville on Vancouver Island in British Columbia and had 10 kids.  My grandma passed away in 1970, my dad James is the youngest of their children.

I have the following names of Bridget's other children:

Roy - 1897
Andrew - 1898 or 1899
Mary - 1900
Lizzie -
James - 1908
George - 1909
Martha - 1911
Sandy - 1913
Margaret -

Do you know if these are the correct dates?
Do you have any information on Bridgets siblings?

It's great to find a relative.  My grandfathers family all went to New Zealand except him and one sister that stayed in Scotland.  And as far as we know my grandparents were the only ones then that came to Canada.

Cheers,

Hi,

Good to hear from you aswell.

The dates you have for Bridget's other children all seem to be correct. Margaret the youngest was born 1915 and there was a daughter Annie who sadly died in 1903 at the age of 5 weeks.

Bridget , was the 5th eldest of Thrift Watt's 12 children  (4 with 1st wife Isabella Lees and 8 with Agnes Dorian) :

Robert Watt 1855
Margaret Watt 1858 - 1871
Isobella Watt 1860 - 1945
George Watt 1864

Bridget Watt 1870 - 1951
Alexander Watt 1871
John Watt 1873
Annie Watt 1875
Agnes Watt 1876
Elspeth Watt 1879
Elizabeth Watt 1880
Mary Watt 1883

On the 1901 Census it shows Agnes, listed as granddaughter, living with her grandparents Thrift and Agnes at 15 King Street , Stonehaven, Dunnottar, Kincardineshire. But is also shows Bridget with her husband Munro and 3 children, Munro, Andrew and Mary also listed as living at 15 King street.
Was it a coincidence tha  Agnes left for Canada in 1919 the year that her grandfather died?
Did Agnes ever return to Scotland to visit ?

I've attached a photo of Bridget, and I have others of your grandmother's half brothers and sisters if your'e interested.

All the best

Hi,

Thanks for the information and picture, we actually have that picture of Bridget, it is one of the only pictures my Gramma had.  We would love to see other pictures also.

It is kinda a coincidence that she left the same year Thrift died, although I believe they had always planned to come to Canada as my Grandpa had come to Canada before the war and had property here, he returned to Scotland to fight in the war where he met and married my Gramma, their first son was born in Sept 1918, I'm not sure of the acutal month in 1919 that they came but I know it was in the winter as my Gramma talked about travelling in the snow.

Sadly my Gramma never made it back to Scotland, my Grampa died in 1938 so she was left with a farm to run and kids to raise.  She often spoke of Stonehaven and although she had a good life here we believe she was always home sick for Scotland.

Thanks again, looking forward to seeing more.

Cheers.

Debbie
