I can't help with the specific enquiry but I live in Guernsey and as the 70th anniversary of the occupation has recently passed there has been a great deal in the local paper the Guernsey Press about the evacuations and the last boats. I'm sure Jersey would have had similar coverage so I suggest you contact their local newsaper which you can do through this website:
http://www.thisisjersey.com/Every account talks of the rough seas and the sickness so this seems to be common and the other common thread is that the parents had only a few hours to decide whether to evacuate their children not knowing if the occupation would last weeks or years - imagine...... of course they couldn't visit either or even receive letters so it must have been a terrible decision.
