I googled a the name of a woman I descend from in the hopes I might find some information with some ease and found her on a post.  Essentially, I think I found a cousin of mine, or someone of some relation to me as we share a common ancestor.

I look forward to the discoveries and assistance this cite could provide.

I googled a family surname just to see what would turn up and amongst the results was a dialogue between two Rootschatters ... so I joined in.  I learned about part of my family, who had emigrated to New Zealand unbeknownst to me.  Since then, I have met up in the UK with one of chatters(an Australian|) and her husband.  We continue to e-mail each other. I have also visited New Zealand on holiday visiting Archives centres whilst I was there but missed meeting up with the other chatter by two months: she sadly died but I visited her locality and saw places that she had told me about and remembered her warmth and generosity.

Because I am a sticky beak I Googled the name of the executor of my grandmothers will as his name was not familiar.  I wondered what made him better than family.  Found him in a discussion on Rootschat and found that he was married to a cousin and a whole lot more relatives I didn't know existed.

I think I found Rootschat through an internet search and have just noticed from my profile that I first registered 9 years ago today  :)

I still think it is the best and friendliest genealogy site there is, so thank you everyone for 9 years of help, advice and friendship!
