Loved reading all your comments - I know I'm a bit late joining in - like a lot of you, I can't quite remember how I came across RootsChat but I am so glad I did. Everyone is so helpful and giving of their time and expertise. I was also lucky enough to form a wonderful friendship with another RootsChatter and friendships last forever, don't they????

Last night I stumbled across a post on this site dating back to 2009 which relates to my great grandparents when they lived in Ceylon.

So far I am very impressed with this site and am amazed I never came across it before.

I can't believe that it's taken me so long to find this gem of a place. In desperation after a solid brick wall I typed in my ancestors name and hey presto up popped the forum. I have spent many months with my head down completing several trees so now feel entitled to a bit of relaxation and perhaps some help with those trickier searches. I don't find that I'm too good with the Irish side... ::)

Anyway it's nice to be here :D Patti

Thanks Jan I expect you will be seeing a lot of me, I am totally absorbed in it, I love history I collect old things and love reading old books,  I read the Flora Thompson books and then watched Lark Rise on Tv and couldn't resist drawing up the Timms family tree. How sad is that?
I guess I'm in some sort of time slip...
