well thank you all for the rapid responses etc.
I had not heard of North Britain before and will start down that avenue.

Found the Cheltenham Alexander Lovell with a Scottish mother but the feel of the family is not right to be my man.

Checked out the entry for the Battersea Lovell and again seems to be a dead end.

There is defiantly something not right here with this particular part of the family as names and dates do not match up

I believe that the daughter may have been born out of wed lock and not even his. this may explain the differing surnames that keep recurring

But hey ho and onward to North Britain.

Probably just a red herring but there's a Perth in New Brunswick.

If it was New Brunswick, would he not have said Canada or Lower Canada, etc?

NB is the normal abbreviation for North Britain.
