Alexander Ronald Lovell
« on: Monday 30 August 10 08:31 BST (UK) »
In 1911 he lived in Wimbledon and employment stated as Electrical Engineer. In 1922 on daughters marridge certificate the surname had been changed to Lowe but he was still electrical engineer. On death certificate in 1935 he has been put down as musician and the name was Lovell again On his wife's death certificate in 1950 the name was Lovell and a retired musician was his occupation. I cannot find a birth certificate, any census information before 1911 although the daughter was 11 in 1911 perhaps indicating marridge prior to 1900/1911 or a marridge certificate.  the only clue I have is on the 1911 census were his place of birth has been put down as Perth N.B. I believe although the N is not clear.

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated

Hi

Perth NB is most likely to mean North Britain which was an acceptable term for Scotland in those days.

Have you got an approx date of birth for him? If so, he is mostlikely to appear in the Scottish records.

I'll have a look around for them  :)

Hi
If his daughter is 11 in 1911 then her place of birth might be a clue as to where they are in 1901.  Finding birth certificates for children will give the mother's maiden name.    What was her name?
Andrea
PS Just thought that the 1911 gives the number of years married.  What does it say?

Hi

I've managed to trace his wife back to when she was living with her parents but I can't find a marriage for them so far  :-\

Forgot to say that I couldn't find anything in the Scottish records for him so decided to go via the marriage route  ::)

You are too quick for me!    Where are the wife and daughter though?  That is your next challenge.

Can't find them Andrea  :'( :'( :'(

I'll see if they're with the parents/grandparents

Added - daft me - I've got her parents in 1901 and they're not with them - another coffee me thinks!

added again - I think I have her on the 1901 but with maiden name - something odd here  ???

Nearest on the 1891 is an Alexander Lovie, vessels

Vessel - Myoni ,St George in the East
RG12/288/173/1

Alexander Lovie, crew, single, male, 23, 3rd engineer, b.Scotland

I'm not sure at all about this one - I  didn't think that ship's engineers became electrical on land  :-\

Also, why Monmouth on the 1901, which is most like him  ::)

Hmmmm

I've just checked his deat hcert which shows him as 75 in 1935. This is a few years older than the censuses have him.

There is a birth reg  of an Alexander Lovell, March q, 1860, Cheltenham 6a 414

It's not all that far from Monmouth
