Keyboard, thank you for the reference and CaroleW thank you for the look-up.

CaroleW, I think Louise Anette and Louisa Ann Tipping is the same person.  If you look at the 1881 census, the children's names are mostly family names...if you can use that as some sort of guide line :-\  and her date of birth also fits in nicely.

Frances Mary seems to be a mystery.  Is there another online website for the London area offering more or less the same as the IGI website (pre 1837)?  I'm not very familier with the British systems  :'( ...from South Africa.

Thank you for all the help, soooooo much appreciated.

I'm not having any luck with Frances Mary.  There is a marriage in 1867 in Oldham Lancs but I have checked them out on the 1871 and her birthplace was entirely different

Just to keep things flowing - here they are in 1851 indexed as Tippin.  However -Evelyn's baptismal record shows her birthdate as 5.12.1851 - nine months after this census entry!!  It must have been December 1849 for her to be 1yr old in 1851

Living in West Ham Essex.  All children b St Pancras except Evelyn

Eliza A Tipping 31 b Leatherhead Surrey - widow - brush drawer
Louisa  12
Emily   10
Frances  8
Edward   6
Henrietta  4
Evelyn  1 b West Ham Essex

There is a possible marriage for Henry's parents on 23.8.1807 St Giles in the Fields  Thomas Tipping to Ann Houghton witnesses E Poole and William Houghton

CaroleW,
Thank you for trying with Frances Mary and for all the other look-ups.  Yip, Evelyn is quite a confusing case.  Looks like she eventually married William Thomas Spiers and their children weren't very keen on getting married.  Three of the five daughters didn't get married, neither did their only son.

I have found a whole extended family for Louise Ann Tipping, with one very interesting person, Lazarus Addis, b. 1864.  Seems that he was born in Poland and married one of Louise's daughters, Emily Edith Ball.  Then in 1902 he left for Quebec Canada and I couldn't find him in the UK after that.  Poor Emily, a single parent in those days couldn't have been easy.

Thank you again and hope I can press on your button for future help.

Warmest regards
Milli

Hi
Just looked at this thread.
My Great Grandfather was Edward Ernest Ball, son of John James Ball & Louise Annette Tipping.
What is your connection to the Tippings?
Interesting to read comments on Evelyn, she has had us wondering too.  You know, I hadn't spotted the discrepancy between her given birth date and the census.  She shouldn't have been born at the time of the 1851 census should she? Hmmmm... All a bit of a mystery really!

Hi Doodles,
I'm so glad you saw this thread.  We are related to Louisa A Tipping's brother, Edward Tipping.  One of his daughters (Clara Tipping) married our Great Grandfather, Herbert A Bonson.

Yes, have to agree with you, Evelyn's "story" is very confusing, yet interesting!

Glad to see Edward E Ball had a family, I have never been able to find any information on him or most of his siblings, only on two of his sisters, Evelyn Isabel who married a Vallance and Emily Edith who married an Addis.....if my info is correct.

Do you have any info on Edward Tipping, Louisa/e Annette's brother?
