Hello,
As a general tip. If you search the houses either side, on the
www.freebmd.org.uk site, it gives the route the cenus enumurator took.
So either side of 'your' Woodhouse, where your George Bell, (Draper/Grocer), lived with his family was Priorbank and Lowmarchhouse.
A search on
www.old-maps.co.uk - for a Priorbank - I used this as I thought there'd be less of them than Woodhouses. One came up in Canonbie. As per Fifer1947's post I'd imagine. I scrolled down into their 1859 map to see if I could clarify where the address was.
I then utilsed the 6" to 1 miles Google overlay on the NLS website at
http://geo.nls.uk/os6inch/google.htmlUsed the map tab on the left to zoom down to Canonbie and when close in changed to the historical overlay. Still none the wiser. A good quality map though.
Good luck with your searching.
Regards, Steve
