Leeds Courts 1837

Hi,
Trying to track down details of Ancester who was Tried at Leeds in 1837 & Transported to Tasmania.
Where can I get details of the trial on the net?
Am in Tasmania and finding details hard to get.
If not possible, does anyone have access to these details & can let me know?

Trial was April 10 1837 and name was Thomas Trainer

Hi

Did you obtain the trial date from the England and Wales Criminal Registers 1791 - 1892 which are searchable on the Ancestry website?

If not let me know and I will give you the details (not much I'm afraid.)

I also searched the Leeds Mercury Newspaper from Jan 1837 to Dec 1837 for any mention of the trial in the 19th Century British Library Newspapers which are online, but could not find any mention of his trial.

The trial records will be with the West Yorkshire Archive Service.  If it was the West Riding Quarter Sessions (some of which were held at Leeds), you will need the Wakefield office.  If it was the Leeds Sessions, you will need the Leeds office.  The records are not on the internet but you will be able to order photocopies - for a charge of course.  You can contact them through their website.  Good luck with your searching!
