Gunner Family Surrey

Hello

I have been to Woking Surrey Family Centre recently to try and expand on the family below, without much luck.

Would anyone have done any research on the ancestors of the following.

 I have verified that the entry from IGI is correct and also a marriage to Lucy E_don in 1681 in Lingfield, against the Parish regs.

WILLIAM GUNNER 
 Christening:  20 AUG 1682   Lingfield, Surrey, England
 Father:  WILLIAM GUNNER

I managed to go back in the Lingfield records but nothing for a Gunner listed so obviously the father William came in from elsewhere. I did check Godstone but I could only find records from 1662 so assume the older ones are missing?

The only other candidate which looked likely I came across was a Worpleston William BAP 1662.

Seeing as I was in Woking, the most populous location for the surname Gunner in the UK, I thought I might have more luck!

If anyone can shed any more light on this family it would be much appreciated.

Looks like William's mother Lucy Gunner was buried 21/5/1735 Lingfield, St Peter and St Paul church.

It came from the National Burial Index on Findmypast.com, and their source of info. came from West Surrey Family History Society.

I have a Sarah Gunner B 1806 Worplesdon. Married John Harris 27/7/1827, Ash, Surrey. Two children Elizabeth (C1827) George (1832) (My GGF). She died 1842 and is buried St Peter's, Ash. 18/5/1842.
Possibly the same line?

I know from IGI the earliest Gunners in Surrey appear to be recorded in Ash.

i have some gunner family member in my tree

but i have made loads of mistakes
it is very hard family to do

i have not back as far as you
my gunners mostly  come for Worpleston
if you have ancestry i am on there
