Evans/Watkins/Thomas in Nelson/Llanfabon area
« on: Thursday 26 August 10 21:18 BST (UK) »
Trying to find out some info about my paternal grandparents from Nelson; but have hit a stumbling block.
Grandfather was Watkin Redvers Evans (b. 1908 Abercynon; d. 1958 Cardiff) married to Amelia Thomas (b. 1906 Llanfabon; d. 1981 Nelson) in Llanfabon in 1939.

I know a lot about my Grandmother's mother's family (the Meyricks from Castell Llwyd Farm) but can't find out much about her father's family. I know her father was a Henry Thomas (b. abt 1836) married to a Latisha (b. 1851), address Ty Pendre, Llanfabon. Henry Thomas' parents were Henry Thomas and Ann. Nothing else know about Latisha's family or Henry & Ann Thomas.

I know even less about my grandfather's family. Father: David John Evans (b. 1875; d. 1944), who's parents were David Evans and Ann Williams. Mother: Mary Eleanor Watkins (b. 1875; d. 1962) who's parents were William Watkins and Ann Lloyd. I know nothing about either family beyond this info.

That's where I hit the wall; can anyone suggest anything that can move this along for me?

Hi,

How certain are you that David John Evans parents are David Evans and Ann Williams???

David John Evans gives p.o.b. as Crosspenmaen Monmouth or Mynyddislwyn Monmouth ?

Watkin (Watkyn) Redvers Evans gives p.o.b. as Merthyr Glamorgan (some of siblings and his mother were b Abercynon)

I am pretty certain this is the correct David John Evans in 1901

1901 8b Edwards terrace Quakers Yard Glam
David j Evans Head M 26 coal Miner Mynyddislwyn Mon
Mary E wife 25 Abercynon Glam
Annie Jane daughter 2 Abercynon Glam
RG 5027 130 12

Possibly his father was John Owen Evans??

Do you have the marriage cert of David John Evans and mary Eleanor???

I will await your reply before going further with  this line
I will take a look at your other requests
