« on: Thursday 26 August 10 11:29 BST (UK) »
Can any one please identify this hat badge for me.

It was found after the death of my mother-in-law in Bucks but until we can identify it will not know who it belonged to.

Thank you

I think the experts on here will agree that it is the badge of THE ROYAL SCOTS FUSILIERS.

The roundel is certainly the same as the Royal Scots Fusiliers, but the flaming grenade did not have that shape pre 1920 at least.

So is it modern? Or could it be a collar badge rather than a cap badge?

Thank you for the replies.

I just presumed it was a hat badge as it is quite big.  ht 3" x  wth 1.5"

Any further info on this would be great.

Yes - it's the RSF Cap badge worn on the Glengarry

You may have to branch out and do research on other members of your MIL's family.

I found a cloth Desert Rat badge behind my gran's photo and subsequently have discovered her eldest son had served as a Desert Rat during WWII. So believe it came from his uniform.

His army photo doesn't show any regiment as the cap he is wearing was a side cap. I remember stories from when I was a child that he drove 3 tonners and was in Sicily at one time. Checking the British Pathe site I found clips of men wearing the same side caps driving lorries in the desert.

Thanks for your reply, Jean.

Does anyone know if the badge can be identified as WW1 or WW2.

Thanks
