Several weeks ago I submitted my memories plus research into the department store, Grant Bros. of Croydon (I used to work there) to the 'your story' page of Museum of Croydon
http://www.rootschat.com/links/09l4/
I've not heard back from them & the site seems to be inactive & not very well maintained with dead links
It seems a shame to waste this work so has anyone got any ideas as to who might be interested to put it online?
Jane

Hi Dave,
Thanks for your reply. I'm going to the UK in October so I could call them then to see what's up. The Croydon Advertiser newspaper has a good history section so I might contact them to see if they might be interested,

Hello Jane
I know someone very interested in "How our ancestors used to live".
Would your history cover that?
My friend's web site is
http://www.mosleyfamilies.net/
and you can sign in as a visitor and leave your message for Martin in the Guestbook
Or PM me with details and I will email him for you
Best wishes

I was brought up in Sanderstead, South Croydon, and by coincidence my Mum has just been to stay with me and we talked about how we went into Grants to buy my school uniform, and my first bra!

I went to school at St Annes in Sanderstead and all my uniform had to be bought in Grants too. (Jnr school uniform from Hewitts in Church Street!)
Although the street level of the old Grants building is unrecognisable now - it's nice to see the upper storeys have been restored. And what about Kennards arcade!!! Anyone remember that?
