Thanks Sandy - That's pretty conclusive!  Back to the drawing board. (struggling up Eliza's line at the moment - hundreds of Pethers, Pithers and Nobes...)

Sandy - I don't have any more than you on Eliza, I think, except some quite flaky stuff...

First, one of the witnesses at the marriage of Daniel and Eliza was William Napper. This must be the one born in Aston Tirrold 18/10/1807, and whose son another William married Charlotte Pether, who must be a relation of Hannah, Eliza's mother. I don't think it can be Hannah's half-sister Charlotte who was born in 1794; but it does show the links between the families.

second - I can find no marriage between Hannah and William Essex. Since Hannah was only 14 when her first child Ann was born, I guess this is less than surprising.
Very shamingly, I cannot find where I got the relationship with John Pether Essex from - It was an early find and I am more clinical about research now... (very shaming...)

Third - there is another tree on Mundia which has a lot of Wallingford Wheelers - most easily found by searching on the site for Richard William Wheeler(!) b 1833 (Wallingford). These do not show on IGI - I know not why... IT would be great to find a link...

All best

Sandy -
" Aston Tirrold All Saints is the following information
23 jun 1812 Ann Pether married James Bushell, wits Thomas Curtis and Richard Finch"

Do you think this is our Ann Essex the child of her 14 year old mother Hannah Pether/Essex ? The next child is John Pether Essex - so perhaps William Essex and Hannah Pether did not marry until the third child Richard in 1797? ...if at all...
