Poor law records such as workhouse records and even removal orders post 1834 can be good.

In December 1878 my ancestors applied for poor relief. The info give was a huge wealth. It gave the names, ages, residence and their residences in the last 18 months, place of marriage and reason for seeking relief. This was in Holborn, London.

My Great, Great Grandfather was a shoemaker, but I cannot find him in any trade directory.  Were all tradesmen entered or only if they chose to be included?

The trades directories were commercial works and as such the vast majority of them contained only paid entries

The 1923 directory of Camden in London lists my ancestor at his address at 99 Kings Road.

The Directories whether Trade or Street variety are always worth checking (like any potential source) but their potential limitations should always be borne in mind.

School Records / School Log Books
1870-Current Day (although 100 year rule applies) School registers provide pupils names, date of birth, addresses, fathers names and fathers occupation and years of attendance if they left to go to another school this would also be noted.

Several years ago I was able to access my own school records at the local record office, I think they were open after 30 years?  I found copies of prize giving leaflets at evening events and I was listed in it!
But other information included, date of entry, date of leaving, father,  address.
Also found Punishment log books, - I wasn't listed!

The other school books I found information in were a transcript from Glam FHS.
